When I started looking for a good hotel tip in Silicon Valley, I had no idea where to start. And one of the reasons for getting lost looking for accommodation is that Silicon Valley is formed by several cities, among them: Santa Clara, Palo Alto, Cupertino, San Jose, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Milpitas, Newark, Redwood City, Saratoga, Sunnyvale and Union City. In total, the Silicon Valley (region name in English) consists of 30 cities and five universities. The most famous is Stanford. And after all, what is the best city to stay in?
Well, the truth is that there is more than one city with good accommodation options. Next, I’ll tell you about our experience in Sunnyvale, the city we chose in Silicon Valley because it’s so central.
And where to stay in Silicon Valley?
First, we chose the Sunnyvale region because it is close to Google (in Mountain View) and several stores, shopping centers, and restaurants. So, we found out that Sunnyvale is located right in the heart of Silicon Valley (see map). The Computer History Museum is 8.8 km from the hotel, and Stanford University, 21 km away. Sunnyvale is the host city for Yahoo and Linkedin. It is one of the largest cities in Silicon Valley.
For those who do not know, Silicon Valley is famous for its universities and for the technology companies and millionaires that appear in this region with their startups’ success. Names like Google, Netflix, Apple, Facebook, Adobe, eBay, and Linkedin are all based in California that she considers extremely promising and young.
The Grand Hotel in Sunnyvale, Silicon Valley California
The Grand Hotel Silicon Valley was the hotel tip in this region of Silicon Valley that we received. Good to know that it was one of the best rated on TripAdvisor in that area of Silicon Valley. In addition to the rooms, the hotel has “ villas ” that are a kind of chalet with a bedroom, living room, and kitchen, perfect for people who, like me, travel with children.
Location and Facilities of The Grand Hotel in Sunnyvale
The Grand Hotel Silicon Valley has free parking and easy access to drive to and from other cities. And yet: it is steps away from good restaurants we went to at night (like PF Changs ), supermarket ( Trader Joe’s), and stores that my kids love, like Target.
Anyway, the location and structure of the kitchen and bedroom to accommodate the family were perfect. Bingo!
The accommodations at The Grand Hotel Silicon Valley
As I said before, we don’t stay in the hotel apartments. We stayed in the villas behind the pool and have a little bit of an Orlando feel in Florida. In the VILLA 2 QUEENS category, our accommodation had one bedroom with two double beds. In the living room, an electric fireplace (American style) and a well-equipped kitchen. Detail: I noticed by the photos on the website that the rooms were renovated after our stay and gained a more modern decor.
Structure of The Grand Hotel Silicon Valley
Aside from Wi-Fi and free parking, The Grand Hotel has a facility that I loved: it serves guests a happy hour daily between 5 pm and 6 pm with snacks. Perfect for those who arrive tired from the tour. Besides, it also has an excellent outdoor area with a swimming pool and jacuzzi. As it was winter, in the late afternoon, I took advantage of the jacuzzi, which was very hot and delicious.
Don’t forget to travel connected to California! We use the EASY PREPAID CHIP for the whole family. Adding the RBBVGRATIS coupon, shipping is free.
And if the location was an essential factor in your choice, the buffet breakfast was the highlight of your stay at The Grand Hotel Silicon Valley. The coffee was included in the daily rate and is complete: fruits, eggs, bread, cold cuts, scones, waffles, in short, everything a lot. I still had an island to prepare the omelet on the spot with ingredients of your choice.
We visited Silicon Valley in January on our California winter tour (see here). Soon, a post on Silicon Valley script in 1 day. In general, we liked the hotel and location—good value for money when staying in Sunnyvale.
